Caldwell Curates: Dar Poeta
At the majority of places in Rome, if you order
pizza you will not be disappointed, but some places really take it to a whole
new level, Dar Poeta is one of those. It is nestled down a side street in
Trastevere and has very little signage, but do not let the difficulty of
finding this place stop you from trying it. It is a small restaurant with a few
outside tables, but I have never had to wait for a table (this does mean that
you may be getting very friendly with the people sitting next to you). The tablecloths
are all the red and white checked ones that are popular in the US, the menu is
solely pizza and I am sad I didn’t have a chance to try all of them. The pizza
is so good I cannot adequately select adjectives to describe them. I never tried one of the calzones, but I can
only imagine that they would be good. Trastevere is also a great neighborhood
to wander around in. It has the small narrow streets like some of the other
neighborhoods, but without many tourists. It feels like authentic Italy and is
the neighborhood where much of “To Rome with Love” was filmed. Here is the link if you wish to visit yourself!
I'm very hungry now.
