Culture: Cafes
One of the most distinct parts of Italian culture is the
going to cafes, which are actually called bars. There is not a single Starbucks
in Italy, which was refreshing. Italians will usually stop at a bar on their
way to work every morning and order their drink or pastry. They will then go
stand at a bar, while they enjoy their beverage; usually the whole experience
lasts less than fifth teen minutes. If someone wants to have their drink or
food at a table that costs a bit more, but then you are allowed to sit there
for as long as you want, which can definitely be a worthwhile extravagance, if
you’re looking to do some people watching. My favorite café is Book Bar, which
I’ll talk about in another post!
